About Reinforced Wall Systems

Reinforced Wall Systems (RWS), a subsidiary of Plateau Excavation, is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead field operations and support the continued growth of our team. RWS specializes in concrete walls, block walls, mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls, and arched culverts, providing solutions that help maximize usable land for commercial, industrial, and residential development.

As part of the Plateau Excavation family of companies, RWS combines specialized wall and structural expertise with the resources, capabilities, and people-first culture of one of the Southeast’s leading site development contractors. Together, we are focused on delivering safe, high-quality work while continuing to expand our ability to self-perform for our clients.

The Director of Operations will oversee multiple construction crews and approximately 85–100 field personnel while helping drive operational performance, team development, customer relationships, and RWS's continued growth. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who understands field operations, knows how to develop people, and can successfully manage multiple projects and priorities at once.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Provide overall leadership and direction for field operations, ensuring crews have the resources, information, and support needed to perform safely and efficiently.

  • Safety Leadership: Reinforce RWS and Plateau safety expectations across all operations and ensure teams consistently follow jobsite requirements and established procedures.
  • Customer Engagement: Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication regarding schedules, project changes, production, challenges, and overall project needs.
  • Site Oversight: Conduct regular jobsite visits to evaluate safety, quality, productivity, manpower, scheduling, and project performance.
  • Process Improvement: Partner with company leadership to identify opportunities to improve operational processes, productivity, communication, and overall efficiency.

  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality‑control processes and QC checklists to ensure work consistently meets company standards and customer expectations.
  • Billing & Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely billing and project documentation, including job records, production information, change orders, and Smartsheet updates.
  • Problem Solving: Respond quickly to field challenges and urgent operational issues to minimize downtime and keep projects moving forward.
  • Cross-Company Collaboration: Work closely with RWS and Plateau leadership and support teams to leverage shared resources and capabilities across the organization.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as needed to support RWS, Plateau Excavation, and overall company objectives.

  • Quality: Consistently delivering work that meets RWS standards and client expectations.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Maintaining responsive, professional communication and building strong client relationships.
  • Team Development: Coaching and developing field leaders, crews, and logistics personnel while strengthening accountability throughout the organization.
  • Accurate Documentation: Maintaining timely and accurate billing, project records, change orders, and Smartsheet information.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying and implementing improvements that strengthen safety, productivity, quality, and overall operational performance.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant construction experience, preferably in wall construction, concrete, grading, site development, or related operations.
  • Operational Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, production, manpower planning, equipment utilization, and land development.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading and developing large field teams, with the ability to establish expectations and drive accountability while maintaining a collaborative culture.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with project-management platforms such as Smartsheet is preferred.
