American Finance Association (AFA)

Position Overview: The AFA seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented Part-Time Director of Operations to support ongoing operations and annual programming. This key leadership role reports directly to the Executive Secretary and Treasurer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Annual Meeting Management: Coordinate Board/Executive Committee meetings, manage AFA events, oversee travel grant program, and recruit student helpers for information desk
  • Financial Management: Review contractor invoices, assist with budget planning, manage prize distributions, and maintain corporate compliance
  • Communications & Technology: Draft stakeholder communications, manage website content, coordinate with Journal of Finance, and oversee technology infrastructure

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or related field
  • 3+ years operations management experience (preferably academic/professional associations)
  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Event planning experience and proficiency with office software/databases
  • Part-time: 20 hours/week
  • Remote with travel to Annual Meetings
  • Flexible schedule with increased workload during meeting preparation
