We are looking for an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) for our 50-bed skilled nursing facility located in Mills River, North Carolina. As the Director of Nursing (DON) at The Lodge at Mills River, you will:

• Hold accountability for leadership, direction, and administration of daily patient care operations

Responsibilities of the Director of Nursing (DON):

• Oversee and evaluate all nursing personnel including nurses, medication aides, certified nursing assistants, and nursing aides in training
• Guide staffing procedures
• Set objectives and long-term goals for the nursing department
• Organize and coordinate admission, nursing, and patient care procedures
• Develop and enforce policies for legal compliance and high-quality standards
• Manage budgets and monitor expenditures, including supplies and payroll
• Address issues and deficiencies through performance improvement plans
• Manage record-keeping procedures
• Collaborate with other departments to streamline operations
• Report directly to the Administrator

Qualifications of the Director of Nursing (DON):

• Current/unencumbered RN license in North Carolina
• Passion for working with seniors
• At least 1 year of nursing management experience in long-term care, including hiring, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and daily operations supervision
• Experience in tracking and analyzing clinical data such as infection control
• Strong leadership and personnel development skills
• Excellent communication and rapport-building skills with hospitals and organizations
• Organizational and stress management skills
• Problem-solving aptitude
• Knowledge of evolving nursing standards, legal regulations, and healthcare best practices
