A leading healthcare facility in California is seeking a Director of Nursing to oversee the nursing department, ensuring compliance with policies and resident safety. The role involves staff management, training, and collaboration with various departments to provide excellent care.
Description
Overall management of the entire nursing department and staffing levels. Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures and ensure compliance. Responsible for ensuring resident safety and that all residents are treated with utmost respect. Develop and conduct in-services for the clinical staff. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training nursing staff. Coordinate pharmacy services and the destruction of expired/discontinued medication. Serve as a liaison between the facility, physicians, and family members. Act as a witness at trials in the event of litigation. Collaborate with all departments to ensure excellent resident care. Oversee department budgeting and reporting. Stay current on regulation changes and disseminate this information accordingly. Participate in QA, Utilization Review, and Patient Care conferences. Assist with all state surveys and follow-up activities. Coordinate MDS and care planning. Conduct employee appraisals and resolve issues, including disciplinary actions and terminations. Maintain confidentiality of employees and residents/patients at all times. Provide direct resident/patient care as needed.
Supervisory Requirements
The Director of Nursing supervises and manages the ADON and the entire nursing staff, either directly or indirectly.

Certifications and Licenses
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Point Click Care (PCC) required.
Physical Demands
Must occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds. Regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear. Use office equipment frequently. Travel may be required.
Work Environment
