Job description

Lead Clinical Excellence in a Culture of Innovation, Compassion, and Person-Centered Care

ClarkLindsey is seeking a collaborative and mission-driven Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the clinical operations of Meadowbrook Health Center, a 49-bed Skilled Nursing Facility and part of East Central Illinois’ only Life Plan Community. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional care while advancing a culture of dignity, quality, and continuous improvement.

As the DON, you will be a central part of our health services leadership team and oversee daily nursing functions, quality outcomes, staffing, regulatory compliance, and clinical innovation. You will work alongside an engaged team of clinical professionals, including an ADON, nurse manager, social services team, and interdisciplinary care partners. This role is instrumental in maintaining our strong regulatory track record. At ClarkLindsey, we do not accept Medicaid. Our care model is built on high clinical standards, meaningful relationships with residents and families, and the freedom to pursue innovation in long-term and post-acute care. We were the first organization in Illinois to implement The Green House model and continue to serve as a hub for person-directed living.

What You'll Tackle:

  • Strengthening a culture of accountability, coaching, and shared leadership across all levels of nursing
  • Leading continuous quality improvement / QAPI initiatives that drive measurable outcomes
  • Navigating staffing challenges with creativity, persistence, and a strong recruitment vision
  • Supporting new care delivery models and partnerships to elevate the resident experience
  • Ensuring readiness for surveys and advancing clinical standards beyond compliance

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education & Licensure:
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois (or eligibility for licensure by endorsement)
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN or higher preferred
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of professional nursing experience in a long-term care or post-acute care setting strongly preferred
    • At least 1 year of nursing leadership, administrative, or management experience
    • Demonstrated success with regulatory compliance, staffing oversight, and team development
    • Familiarity with electronic health record systems (PointClick Care preferred) and Microsoft Office
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and leadership abilities
    • Knowledge of CMS regulations, survey processes, and QAPI frameworks
    • Ability to effectively lead through change, problem solve, build trust, and foster an inclusive, high-accountability culture
    • On-call availability or appropriate delegation required
