Job Description - Nursing Director EMTC Services (250001R6)

Description

Medical services are provided in this teaching environment under the supervision of board-certified emergency physicians and Registered Nurses, consistent with the Standards of Emergency Nursing Practice. The team collaborates with other departments impacting EMTC operations. ED patients are registered by Registration/Patient Access/Admission staff reporting to the Director of Business Operations.

The EMTC provides medical screening and emergency care to over 120,000 patients annually, with conditions ranging from mild to life-threatening. It triages patients using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) and provides stabilization and transfer for complex cases. The facility ensures care regardless of age, race, sex, gender, or ability to pay, and can increase resources during large influxes.

All nursing practice adheres to legal scopes, standards, policies, and regulations. The Professional Model of Care emphasizes responsibility and accountability for nurses' own practice. Children's National supports RN community relationships for health and well-being.

Unit Description

Emergency Medicine and Trauma Services (EMTC) is a Level 1 trauma center located on the Sheikh Zayed Campus, Michigan Ave NW, comprising six patient care areas, including a psychiatric unit, decontamination zone, and Rapid Treatment Unit.

Leadership includes the Chief Nursing Officer, Division Chiefs, Medical Directors, Nurse Managers, and multidisciplinary team members responsible for operations and performance improvement.

Qualifications

  • BSN (required)
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Public Administration, or related field (preferred)
  • 10 years progressive related experience
  • 7 years supervisory/management experience

Required Licenses

Registered Nurse in District of Columbia (required)

Salary Range: $126,713 - $211,182/year
