Job summary

Munson Healthcare in Traverse City, MI, seeks an experienced nursing leader to oversee on-site clinical and operational leadership across key services. You will drive performance, mentor managers, and partner with executives to advance patient experience and care quality within northern Michigan's largest health system.

The role emphasizes staffing, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and strategic initiatives, with a path to a Master's degree and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Commitment to obtain a Master’s degree (MSN, MHA, MBA, or related field) within 3 years of hire.
• Minimum 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience.
• Experience managing direct reports.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (current or within 60 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Oversee ICU/B2 (30 beds), A2 CTU (30 beds), A3 CCU (30 beds), A7 stroke (29 beds), Vascular Access, Wound Ostomy, Stroke and Centralized Tele.
• Provide overall clinical and operational leadership, daily operations, and support site leadership teams to ensure high-quality care delivery.
• Drive financial performance by monitoring productivity, labor, and budgets; develop and execute plans to address variances and meet targets.
• Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance with applicable healthcare standards.
• Lead workforce strategy, including staffing, performance management, and fostering a positive, high-performing environment.
• Partner with clinical and administrative leaders to advance quality outcomes, implement improvements, and evaluate new care delivery models.
• Collaborate across disciplines and with community stakeholders to support strategic priorities and patient experience.

In partnership with the Chief Nursing Officer, provides on-site operational leadership aligned to organizational goals. Accountable for clinical and financial performance, collaborates with stakeholders to advance strategic priorities through planning, communication, performance metrics, and team engagement.

• Drive financial performance by monitoring productivity, labor, and budgets; develop and execute plans to address variances and meet/exceed targets.
• Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, maintaining adherence to all applicable healthcare standards and requirements.
• Lead workforce strategy, including staffing, recruitment, performance management, and fostering a positive, high-performing practice environment.
• Partner with clinical and administrative leaders to advance quality outcomes, implement improvements, and evaluate new technologies and care delivery models.
• Collaborate across disciplines and with community stakeholders to support strategic priorities, patient experience, and organizational goals.

What's Required

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Commitment to obtain a Master's degree (MSN, MHA, MBA, or related field) within 3 years of hire
• Minimum 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience
• Experience managing direct reports
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (current or obtained within 60 days of hire)

Preferred:

• Minimum 5-7 years experience as a Director of Nurse Management overseeing multiple units
• Specialty certification in a clinical or nurse leadership area

Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
