Job summary

Primrose Retirement Communities seeks a Director of Memory Care to manage day-to-day operations of the Memory Care Neighborhood under the Executive Director. Lead operations, life enrichment, and community support to ensure compassionate, person-centered resident care.

You will supervise direct care staff, coordinate with families, manage budget considerations, and collaborate with other departments and external partners to advance memory care services and residents’ well-being.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • College degree in Nursing, Social Services, Health Care Administration, Psychology, Recreation Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Human Services preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of memory impairments (Alzheimer’s/dementia).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Memory Care residents with direct care staff to ensure compassionate, person-centered care.
  • Build relationships with residents and families through proactive communication, meetings, and care plan implementation.
  • Monitor expenses and identify budget optimization opportunities.
  • Assist with tours and coordinate special events, health fairs, or community engagements.
  • Provide teaching and training on dementia topics through staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Collaborate with departments, medical professionals, consultants, and agencies to support leadership functions for memory care.

Primrose Retirement Communities is hiring a Director ofMemory Care to be responsible forthe day-to-day operations of the Memory Care Neighborhood under the supervision of the Executive Director. As part of the community leadership team, this role involves various responsibilities related to operations, life enrichment, and community support.

More about the position responsibilities:
  • Oversee the execution of Memory Care residents by direct care staff, ensuring delivery of compassionate, quality, person-centered approaches.
  • Build positive relationships with residents and their families through proactive communication, meetings and group facilitation, and effective care plan implementation.
  • Monitors and manages expenses to ensure alignment with budgetary expectations. Identifies potential cost-saving opportunities and makes recommendations for budget optimization.
  • Markets the community by assisting with tours, and collaborating on special events, health fairs, or engagements with local civic groups.
  • Provides teaching/training on dementia-related topics through staff training, meetings, and huddles.
  • Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups to develop, support, and coordinate related leadership functions and to promote and further the interests of the memory care neighborhood and residents.
  • Provides effective leadership through upholding all company policies, as well as the Primrose Mission and Core Values.
What we're looking for:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • College degree in Nursing, Social Services, Health Care Administration, Psychology, Recreation Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Human Services preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of memory impairments, including Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, families, and staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Proficient or ability to quickly learn various software, including EHR and human resource information system (HRIS).
  • Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
