Job summary

STACK INFRASTRUCTURE is seeking a Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead campus-scale data center projects, ensure cost-effective and energy-efficient designs, and guide the VP of Architecture. This role focuses on contract oversight, design coordination, equipment specifications, and technology adoption across multiple facilities.

Qualified candidates bring 10+ years in data center HVAC, IT cooling expertise, and PE registration preferred.

Qualifications

• PE Registration preferred (Mechanical).
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years' experience in data center design and HVAC equipment specification.
• 5-7 years' experience in data center design; suitable for Manager level.
• Expertise in IT cooling technologies (air and direct-to-chip liquid).
• Understanding of mechanical cooling system control.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.
• Baseline proficiency of AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation and final approval of project contract documents by design consultants.
• Ensure designs are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Provide engineering guidance on projects, operations, and systems.
• Develop and maintain equipment specifications for OFCI equipment and systems.
• Support procurement through vendor submittals reviews and testing.
• Maintain and update legacy basis of design documents.
• Assist in developing new basis of designs for emerging needs.
• Identify and implement new technologies for energy and cost efficiency.
• Communicate and implement engineering policies, standards, and security measures.
• Maintain knowledge of emerging engineering and design trends.
