Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Director, Software Engineering to lead multiple software teams responsible for enterprise-scale platforms powering secure, scalable payment solutions. You will set technical direction and influence architecture across products.

This role requires building and sustaining high-performing teams, partnering with Product, Architecture, Security, and Operations to deliver reliable software, while advancing engineering practices, performance, and platform reliability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading software engineering organizations delivering enterprise-scale applications and platforms.
• Experience building and operating large-scale distributed, highly available systems.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, and platform engineering.
• Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and engineering productivity frameworks.
• Familiarity with application lifecycle management tools such as Jira, Rally, or equivalents.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple software engineering teams delivering high-quality, secure, scalable technology solutions.
• Develop and execute engineering strategies aligning tech investments with product roadmaps.
• Drive adoption of modern software practices, architecture standards, and continuous improvement.
• Establish KPIs and metrics to measure team and product success.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, and Operations leaders to align on objectives.
