Job summary

Delaware North seeks a Director of Labor Relations to guide a proactive, business-focused labor strategy from our Buffalo HQ. You will work with HR, operations, legal, and senior leadership to strengthen relations with unions and managers while ensuring consistent bargaining obligations.

The role requires travel (approximately 35%+), and we offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, 401(k) match, and performance bonuses. Remote work is considered for this position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of CBA labor relations experience in hospitality or service industries.
  • Experience with unions such as UFCW is a plus.
  • JD is desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with HR, operations, legal and leadership to uphold labor practices and strong union relationships.
  • Develop and execute labor relations strategies aligned with business priorities and bargaining obligations.
  • Assist with bargaining preparation, contract interpretation, grievances and arbitration prep.
  • Assess labor risks, resolve workplace issues, ensure consistent policy application.
  • Advise field leaders on contract obligations and issue prevention, coaching managers.
  • Research, prepare materials and track actions for negotiations and labor matters.

The opportunity

Delaware North is hiring a full-time Director of Labor Relations to join our team at our global headquartersin Buffalo, New York. Asthe Director of Labor Relations, you willbe responsible forsupportinga proactive, business-focused labor strategy across the organization.

Due to the travel required for this position, we are open to candidates on a remote basis.

Pay

Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Base Salary: $104,100 – $140,500 / year

In addition to base salary, we offer an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. The advertised pay range represents what we believe at the time of this job posting, that we would be willing to pay for this position. Only in special circumstances, where a candidate has education, training, or experience that far exceeds the requirements for the position, would we consider paying higher than the stated range. What will you do?
  • Work closely withhuman resources, operations, legal, and senior leadership to support consistent labor practices, strengthen manager capability, and promote effective relationships with union partners and team members
  • Support the development and execution of labor relations strategies that align with business priorities, operational needs, and collective bargaining obligations
  • Assistwith collective bargaining preparation, contract interpretation, grievance handling, arbitration preparation, and labor-management meetings
  • Partnercross-functionally toassess labor risk, resolve workplace issues, and ensure consistent application of collective bargaining agreements and company policies
  • Provide guidance to field leaders and business partners on labor relations fundamentals, including contract obligations, documentation, issue prevention, and manager coaching
  • Conduct research, prepare materials, track action items, and support follow-through related to negotiations, grievances, labor-management discussions, and other labor matters
More about you
  • Minimum of 10 years of collective bargaining agreement (CBA) labor relations experience required, preferably in the hospitality or service industry, but will consider all industries
  • Experience working with Union Here or UFCW a plus
  • Juris Doctor degree is desirable
  • Relationship Management skills, including strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, but also able to work autonomously
  • Able to travel 35%+ of the time.
Physical requirements
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 35%+ to support business needs, labor matters, negotiations, and field leader partnership.
  • Due to the travel required for this position, we are open to candidates on a remote basis.
