Job summary

Boutique Recruiting is seeking a Director of Job Order Contracting in Chicago to lead a JOC team and directly contribute to proposal development and strategy. This senior role oversees a diverse portfolio including civil, underground, vertical, interior, and MEP projects, and requires hands-on JOC proposal experience.

The ideal candidate will drive a high-volume operation, mentoring five to six Project Managers and ensuring proposals and projects meet quality standards for multi-year contracts.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated Job Order Contracting knowledge and hands-on experience building JOC proposals.
• Broad construction expertise across civil, underground, vertical, interior, and MEP scopes.
• Proven leadership to manage and develop a team of Project Managers.
• Experience with maintenance, renovation, and existing-facility construction environments.
• Experience with eGordian or comparable JOC proposal systems preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Ability and willingness to work 100% onsite in Chicago.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of JOC Project Managers, providing direction and accountability.
• Personally develop and build JOC proposals, including hands-on work in eGordian.
• Oversee projects across civil, underground, vertical, interior, and MEP scopes.
• Support approximately 200 proposals annually across multiple contracts.
• Guide execution of maintenance and existing-facility projects valued below $2 million each.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to maintain quality and performance across the JOC portfolio.
• Apply construction knowledge to solve project challenges and ensure proposals reflect requirements.
