Job summary

Elastic is seeking an experienced engineering leader to head internal platform engineering, driving the transformation of Elastic’s internal SaaS portfolio into Elastic‑native platforms. You will own architecture standards, set design patterns, and partner with IT, Security, Platform Engineering, and Finance to deliver high‑impact replacements.

You will lead a small team, guide end‑to‑end delivery of strategic initiatives, and ensure that every system you build serves as a reference architecture

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership of direct reports or small teams.
• Hands‑on familiarity with Elasticsearch—data modeling, query design, aggregations, performance tuning, and production operations.
• Proven track record guiding end‑to‑end full‑stack delivery from ingest to UI.
• Architectural judgment to decide when to build, buy, or integrate.
• Strong written communication to author architecture decisions and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic build‑vs‑buy engineering decisions for internal platforms.
• Collaborate with IT, Finance, and Engineering to optimize Elastic's internal SaaS portfolio.
• Own architecture standards, design patterns, and engineering practices for IT platform work.
• Mentor and lead a small, focused team delivering Elastic‑native internal platforms.
