Job summary

Elastic is seeking a Director of IT Engineering to lead a small, agile team building internal, Elastic-native platforms and replacing costly SaaS with Elasticsearch-backed solutions. You will drive architectural standards, cost governance, and enterprise-scale delivery across IT, Security, Platform Eng, and Finance.

You will manage a high-performing engineering team, establish guiding design patterns, and ensure systems are built as reference architectures used to shape product strategy.

Qualifications

• What candidates must have extensive software engineering experience and strong leadership skills.
• Hands-on familiarity with Elasticsearch data modeling, queries and production operations.
• Experience delivering end-to-end platform systems and architectural decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic build-vs-buy decisions for internal tools and platforms.
• Oversee architectural standards, design patterns, and engineering practices.
• Manage delivery roadmaps and unblock the team to deliver high-value replacements.
