Elastic is seeking a Director of IT Engineering to lead a high-impact engineering team that builds and replaces internal SaaS tools with Elastic-native solutions. You will define architecture, own delivery plans, and guide a small team through strategic projects across IT platforms.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, deep Elastic Stack knowledge (Elasticsearch, Kibana, ML), and collaboration with Security, Platform Engineering, and Finance to optimize internal tooling and cost governance.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership of small teams.
• Hands-on familiarity with Elasticsearch data modeling, queries, and production ops.
• Proven track record delivering end-to-end software/platform systems.
• Ability to make build-vs-buy decisions and architect complex systems.
• Strong written communication and architectural documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic build-vs-buy engineering for internal tooling.
• Mentor and lead a small, focused engineering team.
• Design and deliver Elastic-native internal platforms across five focus areas.
• Set architectural standards, design patterns, and engineering practices.
• Collaborate with IT, Security, Platform Eng, and Finance across the company.
• Dogfood Elastic products and ensure internal systems serve as reference architectures.
