Job summary

Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York is seeking a Director of Financial Strategy & Resource Planning to align IT finances with its multi-year technology strategy and institutional priorities. The role reports to the CIO and drives the management framework for financial and workforce resources across CUIMC IT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; five years plus experience in financial strategy, planning, administration, business operations, or resource management.
• Advanced analytical judgment and executive communication skills.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and advising senior executives on resource allocation and trade-offs.
• Experience with workforce planning and organizational resource modeling.
• Ability to establish governance, performance measures, internal controls, and management reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own CUIMC IT's multi-year financial strategy and annual resource framework.
• Develop funding models, incorporate central funding, chargeback methods, and other funding sources.
• Advise CIO and IT leadership on resource allocation, risk, and strategic trade-offs.
• Establish department-wide financial governance, assumptions, and reporting cadences.
• Lead scenario planning to evaluate financial implications of initiatives and investments.
• Define measures and dashboards to track sustainability and resource utilization.
• Oversee workforce and position planning in partnership with HR and CIO.
• Develop workforce scenarios and staffing plans with cost implications.
• Design governance and reporting for headcount, labor costs, and hiring plans.
• Lead governance for budgets, forecasts, SLAs/MOUs, and financial accountability.
