Job summary

Valero is seeking a Director of Technology for Hydroprocessing in San Antonio. This role identifies, leads, and communicates high-impact technical programs to support refinery operations, reliability, and optimization across sites.

You will provide strategic direction, supervise planning and execution, and serve as a senior technical escalation point for complex process issues. You will also oversee catalyst purchase decisions, collaborate with licensors and vendors, and mentor engineers while

Qualifications

BS degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
15+ years of progressive process engineering experience in the refining industry.
On-site work at Valero San Antonio and occasional travel (~25%).

Responsibilities

Identifies high impact technical programs for refinery performance and strategy.
Leads multi-site program planning and execution with clear objectives and resources.
Represents the company in external technical discussions and partnerships.
Leads high-level troubleshooting of complex unit upsets and coordinates cross-functional response.
Reviews and approves catalyst purchases with signature authority, coordinating with site, procurement, and planning.
Coaches and develops engineers, fostering safety, rigor, and continuous improvement.
