Job summary
Valero in Port Arthur, TX is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to provide technical expertise for refinery process units, targeting optimal performance and KPIs.
You will perform calculations, monitor operations, develop PFDs/P&IDs, and support design, catalyst life assessments, and energy optimization, with on-call availability.
Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering with 5 years refinery experience and process simulation skills are required; company offers bonus, pension, health care.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Chemical Engineering required.
- 5 years of process engineering experience in a petroleum refinery required.
- Process simulation experience required.
- Experience in petroleum refining with multiple refinery process units preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform piping hydraulics, PSV sizing, and pump/motor sizing calculations.
- Monitor unit operating data and report constraints to management.
- Assist operations in evaluations of unit operations and troubleshooting problems.
- Prepare reports on catalyst life, performance and regeneration.
- Develop process designs for new projects and update PFDs, P&IDs, and unit KPIs.
- Provide on-call support for refinery issues after hours.
