Job summary

HomeRise is hiring a Temporary Director of Housing Operations for a 6-month term in San Francisco. You will lead the Property Management department, oversee 16 properties housing 1,100+ residents, and manage a $25M annual budget with strong emphasis on compliance and resident self-sufficiency.

The role requires extensive experience in housing operations, leadership, and a proven track record with staff development and vendor relations.

Qualifications

• BS or BA degree in business administration or related field.
• Minimum eight (8) years' experience in property management, including supportive housing and non-profit management.
• Strong budgeting, reporting, and leadership capabilities.
• Experience with Yardi and complex building operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee property portfolio operations and ensure budget alignment.
• Lead capital projects and manage annual operating budgets (~$25M).
• Develop policies, oversee maintenance, occupancy, and cost controls.
• Prepare regular portfolio performance reports for the board.
• Recruit, supervise, and develop the PM team; foster collaboration with Resident Services.
• Coordinate with finance, asset management, and funders to meet compliance.
• Lead weekly site management meetings and ensure emergency response readiness.
