Job summary

The City of San José's Housing Department seeks an Assistant Director of Housing to lead administration, budget, HR, IT, emergency response, and communications. You will oversee the Administrative Office and Grants Division, guiding operations to advance housing production and equitable outcomes.

Reporting to the Housing Director, you will manage five direct reports initially and collaborate with the leadership team to implement the Housing Department's roadmap aligned with the Envision San Jose

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Seven years of professional experience in the department’s functional area.
• Five years supervising managers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee department administration, budget, HR, IT, emergency response, and communications.
• Directly manage the Administrative Office and Grants Division.
• Provide leadership aligned with Housing Department roadmap and city priorities.
