Job summary

Patriot Disposal / Apple Valley Waste is seeking a Director of Fleet Maintenance to lead a diverse fleet and drive reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance across our operations in Baltimore. You will develop maintenance programs, manage budgets, and mentor a team of technicians to ensure uptime and efficiency.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years of fleet maintenance leadership, a strong background in budgeting and Lean/Six Sigma, and a passion for sustainable practices in waste services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in fleet maintenance management, preferably in waste/environmental services.
• Proven experience managing large teams and complex maintenance operations.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency with fleet management software and maintenance tracking systems.
• Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Certifications such as CAFM or equivalent.
• Experience with sustainability initiatives and green fleet technologies.
• Familiarity with budgeting and financial management in a large operation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute fleet maintenance strategies for reliability and safety.
• Lead the fleet maintenance team including hiring, training, and evaluations.
• Oversee maintenance schedules, inspections, repairs, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare and manage the fleet maintenance budget including procurement and vendor management.
• Analyze fleet data to forecast needs and drive process improvements.
• Coordinate with operations to align fleet availability with service needs.
• Implement maintenance management systems and reporting tools.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local fleet regulations.
