Job summary

American Family Fitness is seeking a Fitness Director to supervise, train, and evaluate all personal trainers and fitness staff, and to implement guidelines for a safe, effective club training program.

The role reports to the General Manager and focuses on recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating in-house fitness programs to retain members and drive revenue. The director will oversee safety, staff development, and inter-department communication.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and train all personal trainers and fitness staff.
• Effectively schedule all trainers and fitness staff to provide the highest quality service for the club.
• Budget and track personal training revenues.
• Integrate fitness programming and group exercise programs.
• Implement and coordinate all in-house fitness programs for member retention.
• Schedule and conduct fitness assessments.
• Track and update staff certifications.
• Provide effective feedback to fitness staff on a regular basis.
• Provide continuing education opportunities for fitness staff.
• Contribute material to the newsletter pertaining to their club.
• Organize and conduct monthly fitness staff meetings.
• Maintain established parameters for safety and cleanliness on the fitness floor.
• Develop personal growth by attending seminars and conventions, expanding certifications, and through self-education.
• Maintain a regular pool-testing schedule.
• Monitor and process all fitness staff payroll.
• Communicate effectively with other department heads, managers, sales, and corporate staff.
• Support and promote all club events and activities.
• Perform daily walk-through of club and report any maintenance issues to appropriate person.
• Monitor and maintain maintenance log, inputting new maintenance issues daily.
• Set individual personal training goals and hold weekly training sessions.
• Meet monthly personal training goals provided by upper management.
