Job description

We have partnered with a high-growth, publicly traded industry leader operating in an emerging, highly regulated consumer wellness sector. Undergoing an active phase of national scale and operational expansion, they are seeking an experienced Director of Financial Reporting to lead their external reporting function.

This role is responsible for directing external reporting in strict compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC mandates, and cross-border regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and operates effectively with minimal supervision.

Position Overview & Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the timely preparation, review, and filing of all periodic financial statements and disclosures (including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K) in compliance with SEC rules and relevant North American cross-border exchange guidelines.
  • Continuously evaluate footnote disclosures and MD&A for completeness, relevance, and compliance with evolving GAAP and statutory standards; draft and refine disclosure language as the business scales.
  • Lead technical accounting assessments and memo preparation across complex areas such as equity-based compensation, capital restructuring, complex debt/equity instruments, and legal contingencies.
  • Maintain and test robust SOX-compliant internal controls over external financial reporting and the consolidation process. Identify and implement opportunities to streamline the financial close and reporting calendar.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and reporting support to General Ledger, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and Investor Relations teams on strategic transactions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; active CPA license required.
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive financial reporting and technical accounting experience within a mid-to-large public company or a Big 4 / national public accounting firm.
  • Deep technical foundation in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting regulations, and internal control frameworks (SOX/COSO). Experience with multi-entity consolidation and cross-border or foreign private issuer (FPI) transitions is a plus.
  • At least 3 years of direct experience preparing, drafting, and managing SEC filings and financial close workflows.
  • Decisive self-starter with proven capability to lead independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and interface directly with executive leadership.
