Job summary

CFS in New Haven, CT is seeking a Director of Finance. The role offers a hybrid work schedule with 3 days onsite and a salary around $150k+ commensurate with experience.

You will lead financial programs, budgeting, and reporting, coordinating with HR on staff allocation and strengthening management information systems. You will drive GAAP-compliant financial planning, oversee teams, and partner with the CFO on strategic initiatives, contracts, and revenue-enhancing efforts.

Qualifications

• MBA/MPH/MHA or health care master's preferred and bachelor's in accounting or business management required.
• CPA highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and budgeting principles.
• Experience managing a team and providing financial leadership.

Responsibilities

• Assists in creating, coordinating, and evaluating financial programs including budgeting and asset safeguarding.
• Coordinates changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
• Approves and processes revenue, expenditures, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, account maintenance and data entry.
• Works with HR on staff allocation and position control documents.
• Prepares financial statements, reports, and analyses for the CFO.
• Reviews contracting and marketing initiatives to support revenue and product development within guidelines.
• Assists in establishing departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
• Ensures program and cost center reports are provided to department heads and supervisors.
• Supervises personnel and conducts performance reviews.

Responsibilities Of The Director Of Finance

• Assists in creating, coordinating, and evaluating the financial programs and supporting information systems to include budgeting and safeguarding of assets
• Coordinates changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems
• Assists in assuring compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements
• Assists in the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, department budgets, mass salary updates, ledger, account maintenance and data entry.
• Works with HR on staff allocation and position control documents
• Coordinates the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses and other reports as required by the Chief Financial Officer.
• Participates in the review of contracting and marketing initiatives to facilitate development of revenue, products and alliances within the established guidelines
• Assists in establishing and implementing short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
• Assists in assuring that department heads and program managers/supervisors receive program and cost center financial reports as requested of the CFO.
• Supervises and evaluates assigned personnel in the performance of their required duties based on predefined performance objectives. Provides appropriate feedback and conducts timely, fair and accurate performance reviews
• Interacts with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and makes recommendations
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer

Preferred Experience Of The Director Of Finance

• MBA, MPH, MHA or Master's in other health care-related field strongly preferred. Bachelor's Degree with major in Accounting or Business Management required. CPA highly desirable
• Demonstrated skills in fiscal aspects of program development, financial management, staff management, staff motivation/retention, grant/funding development and billing and reimbursement.
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience managing a team
• Healthcare experience preferred, non-profit experience required
