Job description

Confidential Healthcare Practice | Scottsdale / Phoenix Metro, AZ | Full-Time | Hybrid
About the Company

Our client is a growing, physician-led healthcare practice in the Scottsdale / Phoenix metro area. The organization has built a strong reputation in its market and provides a combination of medical and elective services through an established team of providers and support staff.

The practice is entering its next stage of growth and is continuing to invest in the infrastructure and leadership needed to support future expansion. The organization offers an entrepreneurial, collaborative environment with an emphasis on long-term hires and giving leaders meaningful ownership over their areas of responsibility.

The Opportunity

The organization is at an important stage in its growth and is looking to add dedicated financial leadership to support its next phase.

The Director of Finance will take ownership of the finance function end to end, including financial reporting, accounting, provider collections, budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, and long-term financial planning. This person will work closely with practice leadership to provide greater visibility into financial performance and help guide decisions around growth and expansion.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to own and build a finance function rather than simply support one. The Director of Finance will have direct access to senior leadership, meaningful decision-making responsibility, and the opportunity to grow into broader financial leadership as the organization expands.

What You Will Do
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including P&Ls, revenue analysis, and financial statements
  • Manage month-end financial processes and ensure leadership has accurate and timely visibility into business performance
  • Calculate and report provider collections and support commission planning and reporting
  • Develop and maintain annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans
  • Analyze financial and operational performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency
  • Develop and monitor KPIs across the organization to track financial and operational health
  • Bring key accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities in-house that are currently supported by an external partner
  • Coordinate with the organization's external CPA on tax and advisory matters
  • Manage inventory reporting and financial oversight
  • Support payroll oversight, with the potential to assume broader responsibility over time
  • Potentially grow into oversight of the billing and accounts receivable function
  • Maintain and optimize QuickBooks to support accurate and efficient financial reporting
  • Partner with leadership on growth initiatives and future expansion decisions
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting and financial reporting experience, including P&L ownership, month-end close, and preparation of financial statements
  • Strong accounting foundation combined with the ability to think strategically about the financial performance of a business
  • Experience operating as a primary financial owner or taking significant independent responsibility for a finance function
  • Experience within a medical practice, physician group, healthcare services company, or similar environment is strongly preferred, although candidates with strong fundamentals from other industries will be considered
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long-term financial planning
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks; experience with healthcare practice management or billing systems is a plus
  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights and recommendations for senior leadership
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership with limited day-to-day oversight
  • Excited by the opportunity to build processes and infrastructure within a growing, entrepreneurial organization
  • Interest in contributing to broader growth strategy and expansion initiatives is a plus
Why This Opportunity
  • Own the finance function: Step into a newly created leadership role with broad responsibility across accounting, reporting, FP&A, and financial strategy
  • High visibility: Work directly with practice ownership and senior leadership, with your analysis directly influencing business decisions
  • Build rather than inherit bureaucracy: Help establish the processes, reporting, KPIs, and financial infrastructure needed for the company's next stage
  • Growth trajectory: Join an established organization with plans for continued expansion and the opportunity for your responsibilities to grow alongside the business
  • Broader leadership potential: Opportunity to expand into additional areas such as billing, revenue cycle, and broader strategic finance over time
  • Entrepreneurial environment: Join a collaborative organization where leaders are empowered to make an immediate impact
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
  • Hybrid work environment with regular in-office collaboration in the Scottsdale / Phoenix metro area
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off, sick time, and paid holidays
