Job summary

Kalama School District is seeking a Director of Operations to lead facilities, grounds and technology, ensuring safe, reliable operations for students and staff. The role directs custodial, maintenance and IT staff, manages district facilities and technology systems, projects and vendors, and drives a strong customer-service culture across schools.

The position reports to the Superintendent and oversees safety, budget planning and compliance under the District Leader Employment Contract.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible experience leading facilities operations and technology operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, facilities management, education, business or a related field.
• Valid Washington driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and evaluates facilities and technology operations and leads department staff.
• Leads a customer-service approach for schools and publishes service standards.
• Develops technology plans, replacement schedules and budgets with the Director of Business Services.
• Serves as Safety/Operations lead in Emergency Operations Plan and maintains Response Plan.
• Manages preventive maintenance, AHERA compliance, and lead-in-water follow-ups.
• Oversees IT systems, cybersecurity and student information systems.
• Directs IT staff and contractors; manages facility use agreements and calendar.
• Monitors contracts, purchases, and capital needs; ensures compliance with laws.
