Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an executive compensation leader to shape and govern our compensation programs across the enterprise. You will align pay with performance, advise leadership, and partner with Legal, Tax, Finance, and external consultants.

You will design base salary, annual and long-term incentives, and manage communications to executives and the Board, ensuring equity, compliance, and competitiveness for a private company environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, HR, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive compensation, Total Rewards, finance, HR, or related analytical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of executive compensation experience, preferably in a large private company.
  • Experience preparing materials for executive leadership, Compensation Committees, Boards of Directors, or equivalent governance forums.
  • Experience designing, modeling, administering, or supporting long-term incentive, deferred compensation, executive retirement, or executive benefit programs is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the executive compensation philosophy, strategy, program framework, governance model, and annual planning process.
  • Design, evaluate, and administer executive compensation programs including base salary, annual incentive, long-term incentive, deferred compensation, and executive benefits across multiple businesses.
  • Develop recommendations for executive offers, promotions, adjustments, retention awards, leadership transitions, retirement transitions, and separation arrangements.
  • Lead preparation of Board Compensation Committee materials, including agendas, market analyses, data schedules, and governance narratives.
