Job summary

UF Health in Gainesville seeks a Director of Coding to lead enterprise coding operations across HB and PB services, ensuring accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding and abstracting with strong QA and audit readiness. The role partners with CDI, HIM, Billing, Revenue Integrity, and IT to optimize workflows and CAC capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or related field is required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 7+ years in healthcare coding/HIM/revenue cycle or related field.
• 5+ years of leadership experience.
• Experience overseeing HB and PB coding in academic medical centers or large health systems preferred.
• Professional certifications such as RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC/COC/CIC/CPMA or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise coding governance across HB and PB coding operations.
• Ensure accurate, timely ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS code assignment and abstraction.
• Drive QA, audit readiness, and pre-bill edit/hold performance to reduce coding-related denials and DNFC/DNFB.
• Collaborate with CDI, HIM, Billing, Revenue Integrity, clinical leaders, and IT to standardize workflows.
• Oversee encoder/CAC capabilities and drive performance transparency.
