UF Health seeks a Manager, Professional Coding to lead enterprise-wide professional fee coding operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and optimal reimbursement. You will oversee quality, productivity, and regulatory adherence while partnering with CDI, Revenue Cycle, HIM, and physician leadership to standardize processes across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of healthcare coding experience with supervisory success, RHIA/RHIT or CPC/CCS credentials, and Epic experience; MBA

Overview

The Manager, Professional Coding is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of professional fee (physician) coding services across the UF Health enterprise. This role provides leadership for coding operations supporting employed physician groups, faculty practices, ambulatory clinics, and other professional billing environments. The Manager is accountable for coding quality, productivity, compliance, regulatory adherence, workforce development, technology optimization, and revenue cycle performance. The position collaborates closely with Physician Billing, Revenue Integrity, Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI), Compliance, HIM, Managed Care, Finance, Information Technology, and physician leadership to ensure accurate and compliant capture of professional services while optimizing reimbursement and reducing regulatory risk. This leader is responsible for standardizing professional coding processes across the enterprise, improving operational efficiency, monitoring key performance indicators, and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and service excellence.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in health information management, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience
  • Minimum seven (7) years of progressive healthcare professional coding experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory or management experience managing professional coding operations.
  • Experience leading multi-site or enterprise-wide coding operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with coding compliance, auditing, CDI collaboration, and operational performance improvement initiatives.
  • Expert knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and OPPS reimbursement methodologies.
  • Experience with academic medical centers is strongly preferred.
  • Epic experience a must.
License/Certification/Registration
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required.
  • Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) preferred.
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) preferred.
  • Epic Hospital Coding Operations preferred.
Other Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer regulations, and professional coding best practices.
  • Knowledge of claims processing, denials management, and reimbursement analysis.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into operational processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead through organizational change
