Job description

Director, Enterprise Business Development

Reports to: General Manager | Full-time | Hybrid | Chicago | Senior Individual Contributor

About The Role

This is a national, enterprise-level origination role for a seller who sells the full continuum of our consulting capabilities — technology, data and AI, and finance and accounting consulting — to enterprise and national-account clients. You will land an initial, focused engagement and expand the relationship across the organization's business units and functions, selling outcomes across the continuum.

This is a founding role. You will help define how we sell as one portfolio to enterprise buyers, with the latitude to build the motion rather than inherit a playbook. Your expertise should scale across accounts and markets — this role travels nationally and is not tied to a single city or geography.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Origination & Portfolio Selling
  • Originate and close engagements with enterprise and national-account clients, selling the full portfolio of consulting capabilities across technology, data and AI, and finance and accounting
  • Drive consultative, value-creation conversations with enterprise executives and their teams, discerning opportunity across domains and driving the right capability where it fits: technology, data, and AI (AI and agentic adoption, data and analytics modernization, and cloud and application modernization), and finance and accounting (Office-of-the-CFO support, finance transformation, technical accounting, financial systems and reporting, and FP&A)
  • Build and expand executive relationships across the enterprise — C-suite (CEO, CFO, CIO, CDO) and business-unit and divisional leaders — landing in one initiative and growing across functions and lines of business
  • Recognize and route opportunities across the account — technology, data, and AI as readily as Office-of-the-CFO and finance transformation — quarterbacking the right consulting capabilities into each pursuit
Account Strategy & Expansion
  • Develop repeatable land-and-expand plays that turn a single engagement into recurring work across the enterprise's business units and functions
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management and CRM rigor, tracking pursuit status, executive relationships, and expansion opportunities across the account portfolio
  • Use executive workshops, assessments, and thought leadership as credibility and pipeline wedges to open new buying centers within existing accounts
Go-to-Market & Playbook Development
  • Partner with brand and practice leaders, alliances, and marketing to assemble compelling cross-capability proposals and win themes
  • Help establish the enterprise go-to-market playbook, account model, and qualification standards as an early, founding member of the function
  • Represent the firm's full portfolio credibly with enterprise buyers across both business and technical buying centers
Qualifications
Required
  • Proven enterprise or national origination track record in consulting or professional services, selling a portfolio of capabilities rather than a single line of business
  • Existing C-suite and senior-executive relationships at enterprise organizations, with a demonstrable history of landing and expanding strategic accounts
  • Ability to read a client's situation and discern opportunity across both technology/data/AI and finance and accounting transformation, engaging CIO, CDO, and CFO/finance buyers with equal credibility
  • Fluency selling AI and data transformation to both business and technical buyers, and the ability to use executive workshops as a credibility and pipeline wedge
  • Industry or vertical depth that travels across accounts and geographies — not anchored to a single market or client
  • Comfort operating as a "first" — building a new motion and methodology in a fast-evolving environment with high autonomy and ambiguity
  • Executive presence, commercial creativity, disciplined pipeline management, and CRM rigor
  • Willingness to travel nationally with multi-city coverage
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Technology, or a related field
  • Experience building or contributing to an enterprise go-to-market function within a multi-brand or multi-practice consulting firm
  • Established relationships across CFO, CIO, or CDO buying communities in two or more target verticals
  • Familiarity with AI/agentic solution positioning and the ability to translate technical capability into executive business outcomes
What Success Looks Like In Year One
  • A defined set of enterprise target accounts is under active coverage, with documented executive relationships and clear expansion plans in place
  • At least one anchor engagement is closed and expanded — demonstrating the land-and-expand motion across capabilities or business units
  • The enterprise go-to-market playbook has a first draft: account model, qualification criteria, pursuit process, and proposal standards informed by real deal experience
  • Brand and practice leaders view this role as a trusted quarterback — routing the right capabilities into the right opportunities without friction
  • Pipeline is growing, forecast-ready, and reflects a repeatable, multi-capability selling motion across enterprise buyers
