Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller Design Group seeks a Director of Engineering to lead a multi‑discipline Technical Delivery Team (Process, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical) and deliver high‑quality design solutions for consumer products, food & beverage, and industrial clients.

You will mentor engineers, run design reviews, manage staffing and workload, collaborate with project managers, and drive continuous improvement to ensure client success and team development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience managing multi-discipline design teams (Consumer Products or Food & Beverage preferred).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in design and construction document production (Consumer Products or Food & Beverage preferred).
• Professional Engineer Licensure and ABET‑accredited engineering degree required or desired.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a world-class Technical Delivery Team across Process, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering disciplines.
• Participate in milestone and final reviews of design deliverables to ensure quality.
• Collaborate with Discipline Leads and Project Managers to review and mark up drawings and specifications.
• Forecast resource needs and manage workload planning across projects.
• Mentor team members to enhance knowledge and capabilities in alignment with practice goals.
• Support proposal development by defining scope and estimating effort.
