DoorDash, Inc. is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the Logistics Organization in San Francisco.

You will oversee 100+ engineers across Backend, Mobile, ML, and Operations Research, architecting real-time systems for the fulfillment engine and optimizing dispatch, pricing, and ETA systems at scale. You will champion AI-driven logistics, pair engineering with business impact, and scale the organization with leaders in Distributed Systems and Applied AI.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.
• AI-native leadership mindset with focus on AI foundations and transforming logistics.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 7+ years leading engineering managers and multiple teams.
• Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering organizations through hypergrowth and restructures.
• Strategic mindset shaping multi-quarter roadmaps and architectural decisions at scale.
• Ability to operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and business with cross-functional collaboration.
• Deep experience developing talent and building culture to raise engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Define the AI & Platform Vision: drive the engineering strategy for a unified AI/Optimization platform.
• Architect Real-Time Decision Engines: build systems solving complex VRP, assignment, pricing at scale.
• Build Production-Grade ML: ensure ML models have robust serving infrastructure and backtesting.
• Scale High-Throughput Infrastructure: evolve distributed systems for millions of concurrent requests.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: align with Business, Product, Data Science on roadmaps.
• Champion Engineering Excellence: mentor leaders and attract top talent.
