Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our Logistics org in San Francisco. You will oversee 100+ engineers across Backend, Mobile, ML, and Operations Research to architect real-time optimization and AI-powered dispatch platforms.

You’ll define multi-quarter roadmaps, build production-grade ML and scale high-throughput infrastructure, partnering with product and data science to deliver reliable, high-impact logistics solutions for Dashers and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 7+ years leading engineering managers and multiple teams.
• Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering organizations.
• Strategic mindset shaping multi-quarter roadmaps and technical direction.
• Ability to operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and business.
• Talent development and culture building in engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Define the AI & Platform Vision: drive strategy toward a unified AI/Optimization platform.
• Architect Real-Time Decision Engines for large-scale dispatch, pricing, and allocation.
• Build Production-Grade ML with robust feature stores and low-latency serving.
• Scale High-Throughput Infrastructure to handle millions of concurrent requests.
• Cross-Functional Leadership with Business, Product, and Data Science.
• Champion Engineering Excellence by mentoring leaders and attracting top talent.
