Job summary

Hyatt Hotels Corporation in New York City seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the maintenance department and ensure the smooth operation of the hotel’s facilities. You will oversee the 3rd‑party security team and work closely with Corporate Maintenance on capital projects and safety training.

The role requires broad maintenance knowledge including HVAC, painting, carpentry, and equipment troubleshooting, with the ability to respond to emergencies and coordinate with vendors and city

Qualifications

• Certifications required: NYC standpipe/sprinkler systems, fire and life safety director, refrigeration operating engineer, and fuel-oil piping/storage supervision.
• Experience managing engineering operations in a unionized hotel.
• Strong knowledge of NYC building codes, fire/life safety regs, and hotel health and safety standards.
• Experience overseeing third-party contracted security teams and Hyatt property security standards.

Responsibilities

• Review contracts and negotiate revisions with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Direct activities for maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
• Coordinate with third-party security teams and ensure Hyatt standards.
• Lead monthly safety inspections and staff safety training.
• Prepare budgets, progress and cost tracking reports.
• Develop and implement quality control programs.
• Inspect projects for code and regulation compliance.
• Maintain communications with corporate staff.
• Coach and counsel employees to Hyatt service standards.
