Job summary

Compass, Inc. is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead consumer-focused web and mobile experiences across its brands. You will report to the VP of Software Engineering and oversee a multi-team organization across the U.S.

and beyond, shaping the technical strategy and platform choices that power home search and consumer value. You will partner with Product, Design and executive leadership to define strategy, establish standards for quality and performance, and drive AI-enabled improvements

Qualifications

• 10+ years engineering leadership experience with 6+ years managing managers.
• 12+ years in software engineering for consumer products.
• Experience building shared platforms and multi-brand/multi-market systems.
• Proven ability to translate technical strategy into business outcomes.
• Strong standards for reliability, performance, and accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Set multi-year consumer engineering strategy for web and mobile platforms.
• Lead a multi-brand organization across the U.S. and international sites.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and executives to align on roadmaps.
• Drive data-driven decisions and AI initiatives to enhance user experience.
• Mentor managers and engineers, focusing on growth and succession planning.
