Job summary

Rippling is hiring a Director of Engineering for HRIS Core Flows in San Francisco. You will lead a 15-person organization focused on agentic employee lifecycle workflows, ensuring reliability, auditability, and enterprise-scale performance across HR, payroll, IT, and finance integrations.

You will define product and technical strategy for AI-assisted workflows, partner with enterprise customers, and develop leadership capacity within the team while maintaining strong cross-functional

Qualifications

• Experience as an Engineering Director or equivalent leading a multi-team product engineering organization.
• Experience leading through managers and senior technical leaders, with focus on developing leadership capacity.
• Experience owning high-stakes, workflow-heavy products or platforms where correctness, permissions, policy, auditability, and integrations matter.
• Experience scaling products for complex enterprise customers, including operational edge cases and cross-functional dependencies.
• Strong product judgement and technical depth, including architecture evaluation, sequencing, migration risk, and platform investments.
• Experience delivering a major product or system transformation while continuing to ship user-facing improvements.
• Experience with AI agents, AI-assisted workflows, decision automation, workflow orchestration, or intelligent enterprise products.
• Experience with HR, payroll, benefits, IT, identity, finance, compliance, or other employee-system domains.
• Experience building platforms for bulk operations, asynchronous workflows, observability, and recovery.
