Job summary

WelbeHealth is seeking a hands-on Director, Engineering to lead and mentor a distributed team delivering healthcare technology platforms and digital products for participants and consumers. You will own architecture, design reviews, and delivery rhythms while advancing CI/CD, testing discipline, and security compliance.

The role blends strategic leadership with deep technical ownership across Azure, AI tooling, and multi-tier distributed systems in a healthcare context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; relevant professional experience may be substituted.
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of IT design, development, and support experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of engineering leadership experience including distributed onshore/offshore delivery.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft development tools and languages (.NET).
• Experience with cloud-native architecture and Azure.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and practices.
• Experience in healthcare technology platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of onshore and offshore engineers to deliver WelbeHealth’s healthcare technology platforms and related participant and consumer digital products.
• Perform hands-on solution architecture and design for complex distributed (multi-tiered) systems, and participate in design and code reviews to ensure delivery and enterprise alignment.
• Drive core engineering practices across the team, including code quality standards, design and code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and release management, while improving standards and best practices.
• Work closely with stakeholders to design technical solutions and drive engineering delivery from requirements discovery through production deployment and operational support.
• Drive technology planning and investment decisions with business and technology leadership, aligning platform solutions with roadmaps.
• Ensure features meet PCI and HIPAA security and data integrity requirements.
• Maintain testing/training/production environments with live protected health data, and manage changes into production per change management processes.
