Job summary

Omni Interlocken Resort & Spa is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the hotel’s engineering team during a major reimagining of guest rooms, public spaces, and restaurants/bars. This role will work closely with the General Manager and Engineering Leaders to oversee all engineering operations, ensuring safe, efficient operations and guest satisfaction.

The position requires extensive hotel engineering experience and proven leadership, with responsibilities including training and supervising

Qualifications

• Extensive facilities maintenance, HVAC and mechanical experience.
• Prior hotel engineering experience and proven leadership.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate heating, lighting, power and repair & maintenance for the hotel in an economical, legal and safe manner.
• Inspect physical plant and supervise maintenance and preventive maintenance programs.
• Coordinate with other departments for safety and health standards.
• Interview, hire, coach, train engineering staff in coordination with HR.
• Directly supervise engineering staff in operation of utilities to support hotel services.
• Recommend projects for future capital budgets; obtain bids and coordinate contractors.
• Maintain permits and licenses as required by authorities.
• Control schedules, staffing and payroll of engineering staff.
• Lead renovations to update and enhance guest experience.

Job description

Omni Interlocken Resort & Spa is seeking a Director of Engineering to join our outstanding maintenance and repair team and to lead the hotel through a major exciting reimagining of the property - guest rooms, public space, and restaurants/bars! This vital role will work closely with the General Manager and Engineering Leaders to oversee all operations relating to the Engineering department, resulting in high levels of guest satisfaction and associate development. This highly motivated individual will ensure proper training and supervision of all Engineering personnel and to provide consistent, cost-effective maintenance programs that ensure the Hotels safe and efficient operation.

Salary range for this position (based on experience): $130,000 - $150,000/year. Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and operate, in an economical, legal and safe manner, all Heating, Lighting, Power and Repair & Maintenance for the hotel.
• Inspect physical plant and equipment and shall supervise maintenance and preventative maintenance program of that area.
• Coordinate with other departments all work necessary to maintain general conditions, safety and health standards set forth by hotel policy and legal requirements.
• Interview, hire, counsel, train, and discipline engineering associates, in coordination with the Director of Human Resources.
• Directly supervises Engineering associates in operation and control of utilities to provide efficient operation of hotel services and comfort to guests.
• Recommend to management possible projects for future capital budgets. Obtain bids, supervise and coordinate contractors in performance of project work.
• Maintain own and hotel's special permits and licenses as required by local authorities.
• Control schedules, staffing and payroll of Engineering associates. Compile personnel records, logs utilities and keep Engineering records.
• Inspect physical plant and equipment and shall supervise maintenance and preventative maintenance program of that area.
• Lead the hotel through major renovations that will create an updated and beautiful place for our guests to create memorable experiences.

Qualifications:

• Must have extensive facilities maintenance, HVAC and mechanical experience.
• Prior hotel engineering experience and proven leadership experience required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be willing to work weekends and at any other times as required.
• Ability to work in the interior and exterior of the hotel/resort.
• Experience managing a crew of 10 or more.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs without assistance
• Ability to stand, sit, bend, lift, for extended periods of time.
