Job summary

SkyBridge Luxury & Associates is seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer to lead preventive maintenance for a high-end resort in San Diego. You will oversee an engineering team, ensuring guest comfort, safety, and top-tier property conditions.

The role entails roughly 80% field work with the remaining time on scheduling, purchasing, and work-order administration. Candidates should have 8+ years in building maintenance and leadership in a complex hotel setting.

Qualifications

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead preventive maintenance programs and ensure timely response to guest, member, and operational needs.
• Recruit, train, develop, and motivate a skilled engineering team, including HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, painters, and general maintenance professionals.
• Maintain high standards for property condition, safety, equipment performance, and guest experience.
• Support the resort's sustainability and Green Initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
• Partner with resort leadership and other departments to proactively address maintenance and operational needs.
• Create a positive, accountable, and team-focused work environment.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

This is a hands-on role, with approximately 80% of your time spent in the field working alongside the engineering team and 20% focused on scheduling, purchasing, work orders, communication, and administrative responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Minimum of 8 years of building maintenance experience.
• Previous engineering leadership experience within a complex hotel or resort environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.
• Proven ability to lead, train, and develop engineering teams.
• Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
• A proactive, solutions-oriented leadership style with a strong sense of urgency.
• Union environment experience is highly desirable.
