Job summary

Halff seeks a Director of Distribution (PE) to lead its electric distribution practice across Houston and South Texas, driving growth and delivering complex utility projects. You will manage a diverse team of engineers, designers, and project managers while building lasting client relationships with cooperatives, municipalities, and IOUs.

The role requires extensive leadership, deep knowledge of distribution systems, and a proven track record in business development and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Active Texas PE license in good standing.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 15+ years of electric utility engineering, design, operations, or consulting.
• 10+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Proven experience leading electric distribution projects and teams.
• Strong understanding of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
• Knowledge of utility standards, NESC, NEC, ERCOT market considerations, and utility design practices.
• Demonstrated success in business development, client relationship management, and revenue growth.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, contracts, and project financial performance.
• Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and team-building skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Texas as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic development and growth of Halff's Electric Distribution business across Houston and South Texas.
• Build and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, designers, project managers, and technical staff.
• Develop and execute market growth strategies targeting electric cooperatives, municipalities, IOUs, and other power delivery clients.
• Serve as trusted advisor and senior client contact for key utility accounts.
• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities through relationship development and proposals.
• Establish annual growth plans, revenue targets, staffing strategies, and operating objectives.
• Oversee delivery of distribution projects, ensuring quality, profitability, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction.
• Lead planning, design, and execution of overhead and underground distribution systems, hardening, reliability improvements, relocations, reconductoring, modernization programs.
• Collaborate with leadership across transmission, substation, and power system planning to develop integrated client solutions.
• Support recruiting, workforce planning, and succession planning within the Energy practice.
• Champion safety, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.”
• Represent Halff at industry conferences, trade associations, and utility events in Texas.
