Job Description

Are you the Director of Education we have been looking for? In this position, you will be able to convey your passion for helping others while leading a dynamic team of teachers by bringing an energetic and positive approach while working with our youth.

The Merrimack Center is an Intensive Residential Treatment Program for adolescents that specializes in trauma‑informed care. It provides 24‑hour comprehensive care including an onsite school, a full clinical staff, nursing staff, and direct care staff.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $72,000 to $97,000 per year. The range may be modified in the future and the actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Merrimack’s education department, including hiring, supervising, and team‑teaching as part of supervision, evaluation, and training.
• Plan and design units, curriculum, and technology integration for the program.
• Develop and implement IEPs and related systems to support student needs.
• Work in tandem with Merrimack’s Clinical, Nursing, Residential, and Administrative teams to provide a shared vision of supportive and enriching programmatic services.
• Maintain positive relationships with outside agencies, families, and other involved parties.
• Provide leadership as a meeting chair, public‑school liaison, and in other capacities.
• Provide physical interventions and verbal de‑escalations to maintain the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our youth.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Special Education Administrator certification or all of the following:
  • M.ED. Special Education / SPED Administration.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a supervisor and administrator.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in special education with young adults with emotional disabilities.
  • Experience working with youth in an alternative school setting or treatment program is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and leadership abilities.
• Background and driving record checks will be performed.
