Job summary

Justice Resource Institute’s Littleton Academy seeks a Director of Education to lead the on-site education department within a residential trauma-informed program for latency-aged students.

You will oversee hiring, supervision, curriculum planning, and IEP development while coordinating with clinical, nursing, residential, and administrative teams to maintain a shared, supportive program culture.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Special Education Administrator certification or an M.Ed in SPED Administration.
• At least 1 year of supervision/administration experience.
• At least 5 years in special education with emotionally disturbed youth.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Littleton Academy’s education department, including hiring, supervising, and curriculum planning.
• Collaborate with Clinical, Nursing, Residential, and Administrative teams to maintain a shared program vision.
• Lead as meeting chair and public school liaison, ensuring alignment with IEPs and safety.

Littleton Academy is a residential treatment setting for latency-aged students that specializes in trauma informed care. Littleton provides 24-hour comprehensive care including a school on site, a full clinical staff, nursing staff, and direct care staff.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $72,000 to $97,000 per year. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future.

JRI Provides Training So That:

• YOU will be able to oversee Littleton Academy’s education department in hiring, supervising, team-teaching as part of supervision, evaluation and training, unit planning, curriculum planning, technology integration, IEP development, development and oversight of related systems to support these tasks.
• YOU will be able to work in tandem with Littleton Academy’s Clinical, Nursing, Residential Department and Administrative team to provide a shared vision of supportive and enriching programmatic services and to maintain positive relationships with outside agencies, families, and other involved parties.
• YOU will be able to provide leadership as a meeting chair, public school liaison, and among others.

Requirements:

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Qualified candidates will have a Special Education Administrator certification or all of the following:
• M.ED Special Education/ SPED Administration.
• At least 1 years of experience as a supervisor and administrator.
• At least 5 years of experience working in special education with young adults with emotional disabilities.
• Experience working with youth in an alternative school setting or treatment program is preferred but not required.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and leadership abilities.
• At JRI, you will learn to provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our youth.
• Background and driving record checks will be performed.
