Job summary

Salesforce, Inc. is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead our Data Ingestion Platform, shaping a scalable enterprise data footprint for analytics, ML, and AI agents.

You will guide a team of senior data engineers, drive architecture across Snowflake and lakehouse environments, and push for reliable, secure data pipelines. The role demands 15+ years in data engineering and 8+ years of leadership, with hands-on expertise in Spark, Iceberg, Kafka, and Airflow.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of data engineering experience focusing on data ingestion.
• 8+ years of engineering leadership and people management experience.
• Proven experience architecting high-volume data ingestion platforms.
• Snowflake data architecture, performance, security, governance, and cost management.
• Apache Spark for large-scale processing.
• Lakehouse designs with Iceberg or similar formats.
• Kafka and event-driven streaming architectures.
• Strong SQL and at least one programming language (Python).
• Data modeling, distributed systems, schema evolution, data contracts, and batch/stream patterns.
• Infrastructure as code and CI/CD for data workflows.
• Data quality, metadata, governance, observability, access control practices.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the technical strategy and roadmap for enterprise data ingestion platforms.
• Architect, build, and operate high-volume batch and real-time ingestion systems.
• Lead the design of scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using MuleSoft, Informatica, Spark, dbt, Iceberg, Kafka and Airflow.
• Design and optimize data models and storage across Snowflake, Data360 and lakehouse environments.
• Partner with the Data Platform team to establish Iceberg-based patterns for scalable storage.
• Ensure data ingestion platforms meet availability, performance, security, observability and data quality.
• Drive platform scalability through automation, reusable frameworks and self-service ingestion patterns.
• Establish engineering best practices: reviews, testing, CI/CD, documentation, operations readiness.
• Mentor senior data engineers and develop technical leaders.
