Job summary

Instacart is hiring a Director of Compensation to own our broad-based pay strategy end-to-end, reporting to the Head of Total Rewards. You’ll lead programs, frameworks, and cross-functional partnerships to keep pay competitive and fair as we grow into new markets.

You’ll supervise a team of compensation partners, shape equity design, and partner with Finance, Legal, and executives on offers, pay equity, and international expansion.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in compensation with at least 3 years in management.
• Experience advising VP/SVP-level leaders on complex compensation decisions.
• Deep expertise in equity compensation design and strategy.
• Experience building compensation programs at scale: job architecture, market pricing, performance cycles.
• Strong data analysis skills using spreadsheets (gSheets/Excel).
• Interest in applying AI/technology to improve compensation processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end broad-based compensation strategy.
• Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and senior leaders to address complex problems.
• Lead equity compensation design and communication.
• Oversee international expansion compensation work.
• Coach and manage a high-performing compensation team.
