Job summary

Thread, founded in Baltimore, seeks a Director of Communities to lead a school-site team, drive outcomes for young people, and strengthen relationships with volunteers and local partners.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will set site priorities, coach managers, monitor data, and ensure Thread's relational model is implemented with integrity, accountability, and learning.

This is a people-first leadership role in a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

• Six+ years of leadership experience in youth development, nonprofit management, or education.
• Proven ability to lead diverse teams and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Experience building relationships across multiple stakeholders including schools and community partners.
• Experience with collective impact, community development, or place-based initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the executive leader of an assigned site, implementing Thread's mission and strategic plan.
• Set annual and quarterly site priorities aligned with organizational goals and local needs.
• Lead regular planning routines using data and community insights to adjust strategy.
• Represent Thread as a senior leader within the school and surrounding community.
• Own recruitment, engagement, retention, and progress toward Thread's outcomes for young people and volunteers.
• Monitor site performance data to identify trends and needed interventions.
• Supervise and coach site staff, building a high-performing team culture.
