City of Maypearl is seeking a Community Services Director to lead the Community Services Department, align sustainable development goals, and advise City leadership on land use and planning matters. This executive role oversees planning, permitting, code compliance, and inspections.

The position requires a strong background in urban planning and public administration, with several years in supervisory roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, building, permitting, or code compliance.
• At least three (3) years of supervisory or management experience.

Responsabilités

• Provide strategic leadership and management over planning, zoning, building inspections, code compliance, and permitting.
• Develop, implement, and enforce policies to ensure service delivery compliant with laws.
• Lead strategic initiatives to modernize operations and improve interdepartmental coordination.
• Align departmental goals with city plans in housing, transportation, infrastructure, and economic development.
• Oversee review of planning and zoning applications, permits, and development proposals.
• Ensure efficient inspection services for building construction and code enforcement.
• Lead long-range and current planning updates to zoning, comprehensive plans, and building codes.
• Prepare and manage the department’s annual budget and oversee grants and capital projects.
• Advise City Manager, Planning Commission, and City Council on planning matters; present at meetings.
• Manage staff recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and development plans.
• Promote customer service and problem-solving across divisions.
• Respond to community concerns related to code violations or permit processing.
