Job summary

Connectly Recruiting is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Technology to lead hands-on CNC manufacturing, process development, and tooling design. The role also drives shop-floor automation, digital tooling, and AI integration, requiring strong leadership and direct technical involvement on the manufacturing floor.

The candidate will develop a practical modernization roadmap, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure processes meet quality, tolerances, and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Significant manufacturing engineering experience in CNC machining and hands-on problem solving.
• Experience turning drawings into production processes and routings.
• Strong CNC programming, machining practices, and fixture design knowledge.
• Ability to troubleshoot shop-floor issues and drive corrective actions.
• Experience interpreting drawings, GD&T, and complex manufacturing requirements.
• Proven track record delivering measurable manufacturing improvements.
• Experience with digital manufacturing tools, CNC connectivity, automation, or modernization initiatives.
• Experience leading technical teams while remaining hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing engineering activities on new and existing products on the shop floor.
• Develop routings, setup requirements, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions for new work.
• Provide direct CNC programming support, setup optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Lead tooling and fixture design, development, and implementation.
• Drive manufacturing transformation through automation, data capture, and AI integration.
• Coach and develop the engineering team while maintaining hands-on involvement.
• Collaborate with operations, quality, maintenance, and leadership to address capacity, delivery, cost, and quality challenges.
