Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services seeks a Director of Systems Engineering to lead design, deployment, and ongoing optimization of the enterprise infrastructure across Azure and on-premises datacenters.

You will drive automation, DevOps practices, and security compliance while managing a high-performance team of systems engineers and partnering with cross-functional groups to improve reliability and scalability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of infrastructure/system engineering experience in enterprise environments.
• 3+ years of people leadership in a technical setting.
• Strong Azure expertise across compute, storage, networking, security, and cost management.
• Deep Kubernetes knowledge including deployment, scaling, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of systems and DevOps engineers with coaching and performance management.
• Define and execute infrastructure and cloud strategy aligned with IT.
• Own design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure across Azure and on-prem.
• Oversee Kubernetes architecture and lifecycle management for mission-critical apps.
• Collaborate with application teams to design scalable, secure, highly available infrastructure.
• Lead IaC initiatives using Azure DevOps, Terraform, ARM/Bicep, and Git workflows.
• Manage Azure DevOps backlogs, sprints, roadmaps, and blockers.
• Develop infra documentation and runbooks for reliability.
• Ensure platform reliability, capacity planning, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on controls and compliance.
• Lead disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.
• Manage vendor relationships and third-party tech.
• Evaluate new tech to improve operations and outcomes.
• Participate in budgeting and cost management.
