Job summary

Extreme Networks is seeking a Director of Software Applications Engineering to lead cloud-native applications, APIs, and data services for our cloud networking platform. You will own the technical roadmap, drive delivery quality, and partner with product and platform teams to ship reliable software at cloud scale.

The role oversees multi-region environments, champions Agile practices, and guides budgets and vendor decisions. Hybrid work model based in Salem, US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles.
• Experience building cloud-native apps on AWS/Azure/GCP with microservices, containers, and serverless tech.
• Strong background in middleware and data services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Proven ability to lead through change and deliver cross-team initiatives.
• Experience partnering with Product Management on roadmaps and communicating strategy.
• Knowledge of secure software development, CI/CD, observability, and SSDLC.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to influence senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own strategy, architecture, and roadmap for cloud applications and data services.
• Lead multiple engineering teams; set goals, career paths, and performance expectations.
• Translate business requirements into prioritized technical roadmaps with PM.
• Drive code quality, CI/CD, test automation, observability, and SSDLC.
• Ensure cloud services scale, are available, and perform in multi-tenant environments.
• Collaborate with Platform Eng, SRE, Security, and Support on incidents and SLAs.
• Evolve middleware and data services to support new product capabilities.
• Manage budget, vendors, and tooling in partnership with VP.
• Represent the department in executive reviews and cross-org initiatives.
• Champion Agile/Scrum and a culture of continuous improvement.
