Job description

Company: Laptis

About Laptis

Laptis is a fast-growing venture with a mission to streamline access to trusted substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. For the nearly 50 million Americans struggling with SUD, Laptis helps connect them to the right level of care at the right time.

We’re building the data-driven, AI-enabled referral infrastructure of the future to replace today’s fragmented, opaque, and outdated system. Our technology bridges patients, providers, and health systems – ensuring that individuals in crisis are met with clarity, speed, and trusted care pathways.

Incubated at Harvard, backed by premier VC firms, and winner of the university-wide Shark Tank Pitch Competition, Laptis is growing rapidly. We’re already partnering with major hospitals and treatment centers across Massachusetts, with plans to scale nationally.

Position Overview

We are hiring a Director of Clinical Operations to build and execute the implementation and scaling playbook for our clinical-facing products. This is a critical role that will directly shape how hundreds of thousands of patients access life-saving care, as well as how health plans, health systems, and providers engage with them.

We are looking for a mission-oriented, clinically-fluent leader who sees around corners and “gets stuff done” in a fast-paced environment with little red tape. If that’s you, then building Laptis’ clinical backbone could be the most meaningful work of your career.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Laptis Operations

  • Own the buildout, integration, adoption, and optimization of Laptis’ care navigation operations and the technical implementations needed to support them.
  • Design, manage, and continuously improve (i) internal and external workflows, (ii) implementation protocols with key stakeholders (health plans, health systems, and treatment providers), and (iii) care-matching algorithms.
  • Define and track key outcome metrics, including time-to-treatment, level of care appropriateness, care outcomes, and more.
  • Partner with the Laptis executive team to refine company vision, business model, KPIs, and go-to-market strategy.

Manage an Excellent Team

  • Help the Laptis executive team launch into an entirely new market, and assist in the hiring, managing, and mentoring of a high-performing clinical ops team, including care navigators and recovery support specialists.
  • Ensure quality assurance, compliance, and adequate performance across all operations.
  • Collaborate with Laptis product and engineering teams to translate various workflows into scalable, HIPAA-compliant software.

Requirements

Experience

  • Track record of excellence in healthcare operations, clinical management, and/or behavioral health.
  • Preference for leadership roles at an early-stage startup and/or a health plan.
  • Deep expertise in substance use treatment modalities and ASAM levels of care, referral workflows, clinical protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Clinical license (RN, MD, LCSW, etc.) is preferred, but not required.

Attributes

  • Proven ability to build and lead exceptional teams.
  • Excited by making high-stakes decisions under pressure and uncertainty.
  • Bias for action and tenacity to solve problems without a blueprint.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills.

Who Should Apply

  • Demonstrated Excellence. We want someone with a demonstrated ability to perform at the highest level in previous roles, ideally with a track record of driving meaningful outcomes and exceeding expectations.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset. We want someone who is able to take initiative with minimal guidance, solve complex problems, and see around corners. You must be comfortable making decisions under uncertainty and moving fast when necessary. In essence, you will need to simply “get stuff done.”
  • Mission-Oriented, Curious, and Humble. Everyone at Laptis puts the team and mission first, can collaborate effectively, and is eager to support each other. As an early stage company, we must all be prepared to learn at all times.

Why Laptis

  • Competitive Compensation. We take care of our team and offer competitive compensation, equity, and benefits.
  • Transformational Social Impact. We’ve already helped hundreds of people reach life-saving care. Over the next few years, we anticipate this number will exceed 100,000. Your work will directly save countless lives.
  • Career-Changing Professional Development. You will define the clinical future of Laptis and own the most critical part of our organization. We will trust and empower you as a leader. We want you to grow with the company, and we will invest significant time and resources on your professional development – this role can quickly evolve into a VP or Head of Clinical Operations.
  • Extremely Fast Growth. We recently closed an oversubscribed pre-seed round from top investors, and our customer demand is surging. We will expand beyond Massachusetts this summer, and we expect to grow as fast as possible – to dozens of states and eventually the entire country – in the coming years.
